I added a custom luggage rack (thanks to Peter the Blacksmith) last year - had to take the stock sissy bar off which gave me a hands on experience with the existing unit.
With the square mounts - I would be suspicious that you will have to get creative and build or have built one of your own design.
If you take the existing unit off- a fabrication shop should be able to rework the back rest welding in a "taller" arch.
